Oil on Canvas (18"x24")
Sue’s work is informed by a collective imprint of landscape that has influenced her life since childhood. Growing up in rural Ontario, Canada, Sue spent most of her time exploring the natural environment.
Her paintings are a personal voyage into an internal perception of landscape that expresses a primal and psychogeographical connection to land and water, along with a sense of calm, comfortable solitude. Inspired by shorelines around Georgian Bay and the coastlines of Newfoundland, her journey is motivated by the interplay of environment and metaphors of the human condition. Most recently, her focus has shifted to more northern climes and the cryospheric changes rapidly occuring. This shift has also impacted her creative explorations toward immersive installation.
